Time Well Spent and #DeleteFacebook movements are just the beginning

A public-interest algorithm

#CambridgeAnalytica

To truly reimagine a platform like Facebook, we need to reimagine its algorithm. As Facebook has shown us, social media sites have huge power to alter our consumer preferences, spur or hinder extremism, and sway our emotions with tweaks of code. But today their algorithms function as secret recipes that serve private interests.

Is Facebook Dying?

One thing is for certain…
Facebook is too big and hard to fail.

It should be better to change – improve it!

#EUvsDisinfo

Disinformation is an evolving challenge, with high potential to negatively influence democratic processes and societal debates. Its increasingly adverse effects on society across the European Union call for a coordinated, joint and sustainable approach to comprehensively counter it.

EU Action Plan against

Disinformation

Online platforms have submitted a first implementation report setting out the state of play of the measures taken by each of them to comply with their commitments under the Code of Practice on Disinformation. The European Commission welcomed these actions but calls on online platforms to intensify their efforts in the run up to the 2019 European elections.
The monitoring of the Code of Practice is part of the Action Plan against disinformation that the European Union adopted last December to build up capabilities and strengthen cooperation between Member States and EU institutions to proactively address the threats posed by disinformation.

  • Improve Detection, Analysis and Exposure of disinformation
  • Stronger cooperation and joint responses to disinformation
  • Mobilise private sector to Tackle disinformation
  • Raise awareness and improve societal resilience
