Brexit Deal is take it or leave it. EU rejects renegotiation

The European Union will not renegotiate the Brexit divorce deal. No renegotiation, nothing more, nothing less! European Commission Vice-president Maros Sefcovic said “nothing more, nothing less”. Vice President agreed with Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove to hold the next meeting of the joint committee on Monday 28 September.

Mr. Sefcovic informed the EU ministers about the work which is now undergoing within the EU-UK joint committee on the withdrawal agreement. The Council focus on internal market bill tabled by the UK government. He underscores that the EU believes in calm, constructive cooperation through the channels created by the withdrawal agreement.

We will not be negotiating, but we are dedicated to its full and timely implementation.

The eighth round of negotiations between the European Union and the United Kingdom took place from Tuesday 8 September to Thursday 10 September 2020 in London, United Kingdom.

Extraordinary meeting of the EU-UK Joint Committee

Following the publication by the UK government of the draft “United Kingdom Internal Market Bill” on 9 September 2020, Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the European Commission, called for an extraordinary meeting of the EU-UK Joint Committee to request the UK government to elaborate on its intentions and to respond to the EU’s serious concerns. A meeting took place the following day in London between Vice-President Šefčovič and Michael Gove, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster.

General Affairs Council – September 2020

The Council, in public session, takes stock of the situation regarding the next multiannual financial framework and the recovery package. Ministers prepares for the special meeting of the European Council on 24 and 25 September by discussing draft conclusions.

BREXIT: EU-UK negotiations
